Comp Day Procedures

COMP DAY
The day after your base tan application you will have a light base tan.
Do NOT be alarmed if this is not as dark as you expected as it is just the base coat to prepare for us to apply your all important top coat spray tan.

This TOP COAT tan applied on the day of comp is super dark and will be the perfect colour for you to hit the stage with.

Do NOT under any circumstances apply self tan of any type after your base tan has been applied, trust the process as we will apply your top coat at the venue, this is the final coat you step on stage with.

MORNING OF YOUR COMP
We recommend that you lightly rinse your body under a lukewarm shower for 60 seconds and pat your skin dry gently, you are now ready for additional coat of Top Coat Tan Solution to be added onsite at the venue.
Note: Washing of your hair should be done prior to you base tanning appointment. Residue from your shampoo can negatively impact on your tan creating streaks and patchiness.
Make sure your skin is clean and free of lotion, shaving cream, makeup, perfumes, deodorant, etc.

  • This is the tan you will be walking on stage with.
  • Be careful around liquids and going to the restroom.
  • Avoid anything with zippers, snaps, buttons or texture. Lightweight Cotton Garments are the best.

CHECK IN TAN TIME
On the day of the show we will have all competitors check in with us for your top coat spray tans when you arrive at the venue so we can mark you off our spreadsheet and then will have to tan according to who goes on stage first.

You will be supplied with a rough top coat time the days leading up to comp, usually after final registrations have closed so we can get final numbers & will be required to be onsite backstage ready in our tanning tents at that time for your top coat application.

WHAT TO WEAR
MALE COMPETITORS
Whatever category you are competing in will determine what you should wear when getting your spray tan. If you’re a BODY BUILDER, bring the suit you are wearing for the show or a sock to get sprayed in.
If you are competing in other categories and are required to wear board shorts, briefs are suitable to get spray tanned in.
We suggest wearing an oversize long-sleeved t-shirt and lounge or loose track pants with a drawstring to your tanning appointment time.

FEMALE COMPETITORS
ALL women competitors get spray tanned naked as you do not want any tan lines. Please be sure to bring dark coloured, loose fitting clothes  nothing tight in the chest area, no tube dresses or tube tops, nothing tight around the waist. NO elastic waist bands, they will mark your tan.
The looser the better. Avoid anything with zippers, snaps, buttons or texture. Lightweight cotton is the best. We suggest wearing an oversize long-sleeved t-shirt and lounge or hospital pants with a drawstring to your appointment and after your tan application.

TOUCH UPS BEFORE STAGE TIME
Do your Pump-up session before coming to be touched up and glazed before going on stage. Make sure to listen to the back stage crew so you know how to time yourself to be glazed and last tan touch ups done. This is usually applied 10-20 mins before stage time.

We will not be able to keep track of what class is going on stage at any given time as we are usually busy tanning, so please keep this in mind & ensure you allow yourself plenty of time to be looked over before heading to the athlete holding area.

DO NOT COME LAST MINUTE TO GET A TOUCH UP OR GLAZED IT MAKES FOR A VERY STRESSFUL TIME BEFORE YOUR'E ABOUT TO HIT THE STAGE.

POSING OIL
We use a certain type/brand of Posing Oil that is compatible with our top coat spray tan solution. Please do not use any other glazing products including canola oil spray or coconut oil and Hot Stuff as they may mess up your tan and make it go runny and lighter and patchy. Application of posing oil is included as part of our service for the divisions its required for which is usually bodybuilding, figure, classic physique divisions.

Water is NOT your friend. Be careful when drinking it or when near a sink or toilet. This also goes for bathroom breaks, take care when using the toilets.

Post Competition Tan Tips
There are many products that will help remove some of the extra layers of colour. After the competition, you’ll want to reveal a natural, even tan. Be careful not to over do it on the exfoliation. Use a product that will care for your skin and remove the competition tan. We suggest BRONZON COMP TAN REMOVER MOUSSE
