Comp Day Procedures

COMP DAY
The day after your base tan application you will have a light base tan.
Do NOT be alarmed if this is not as dark as you expected as it is just the base coat to prepare for us to apply your all important Top Coat (STAGE) spray tan. 

Once your base tan bronzer has been washed off & your tan has fully developed you may moisturise your skin. 

Your TOP COAT tan applied on the day of comp is DARK and will be the perfect colour for you to hit the stage with.

Do NOT under any circumstances apply self tan of any type after your base tan has been applied just because you or your coach think it’s ’too light’, trust the process as we will apply your top coat at the venue, this is the final coat you step on stage with.


MORNING OF YOUR COMP
We recommend that you lightly rinse your body under a lukewarm shower for 60 seconds and pat your skin dry gently, you are now ready for FINAL coat of Top Coat Tan Solution to be added onsite at the venue.  
Note: Washing of your hair should be done prior to your base tanning appointment. Residue from your shampoo can negatively impact on your top coat tan creating streaks and patchiness.  

 
Make sure your skin is clean and free of lotion, shaving cream, makeup, perfumes, deodorant, etc. Deodorants and after shave and perfumes can make your top coat tan turn green when the bronzer hits it so its important to be free of all of these products.

  • This is the tan you will be walking on stage with.
  • Be careful around liquids and going to the restroom.
  • Avoid anything with zippers, snaps, buttons or texture.
  • Lightweight loose oversized Cotton Garments are the best.

CHECK IN TAN TIME
On the day of the show we will have all competitors check in with us for your top coat spray tans when you arrive at the venue so we can mark you off our spreadsheet and then will have to tan according to who goes on stage first.

You will be required to be onsite backstage ready in our tanning tents at the time emailed to you for your Top Coat tan application.

  • WOMEN'S DIVISIONS: You will be tanned fully naked, please bring a clip to hold your hair up and loose dark clothing to put on straight after application.
  • MEN'S DIVISIONS: You will be tanned in your own briefs with the exception of the Body Building Division who must tan naked or wear a sock or cstring.

ALL ATHLETES: Please ensure you are wearing something extremely loose and dark before and after your spray tan application. We suggest an oversized tshirt and loose cotton pants with a drawstring. Absolutely NO silk or satin robes.

TOUCH UPS BEFORE STAGE TIME: You MUST do your pump up session before coming to be touched up and glazed before going on stage. Make sure you listen to the ANB backstage team, so you know how to time yourself to be glazed and last tan touch ups done. This usually happens 15-20 minutes before stage time.

We will not be able to keep track of what class is going on stage at any given time as we are usually busy tanning, so please keep this in mind & ensure you allow yourself plenty of time to be looked over before heading to the athlete holding area side of stage.

DO NOT COME LAST MINUTE TO GET A TOUCH UP OF TAN OR GLAZED. IT MAKES FOR AN VERY STRESSFUL TIME BEFORE YOUR'E ABOUT TO HIT THE STAGE.
